CF Montreal's Zachary Brault-Guillard added to Canada roster for El Salvador test

Club de Foot Montreal defender Zachary Brault-Guillard has been added to John Herdman's Canada roster for the team's third World Cup Qualifying match-up of the window, with the 23-year-old right full-back joining up in training ahead of departure to El Salvador.

Brault-Guillard steps into the roster to help bolster ranks, after his club teammate Samuel Piette picked up an apparent injury during the team's first match vs. Honduras.

His addition to the team is a welcome one, of course, as Brault-Guillard is no stranger to the national team, having earned 5 caps for country since 2015.

And, playing alongside a backline that consists of fellow CF Montreal defenders Alistair Johnston and Kamal Miller, Brault-Guillard can fit right into the backline if needed, too.

Said Johnston of the CanMNT contingent in Montreal: "You can see that now, the Canadian club teams - though they've talked about it before about building these Canadian teams filled with Canadian players - Montreal is showing with actions that speak louder than words and really doing it.

"There's no better time than right now."

Canada returns to World Cup Qualifying action on February 2, 2022 (8PM ET / 5PM PT), taking on El Salvador to wrap up the first of two qualifying windows of the year.
