York United signs Osaze De Rosario for 2022 CPL season
York United FC confirmed Wednesday the signing of Canadian striker Osaze De Rosario on a one-year deal, plus club options through 2024.
The 20-year-old, son of iconic Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario, has spent some time with the club during the off-season and has now been rewarded for the calibre of his contributions.
Most recently, De Rosario was based in Ukraine with Premier League side Rukh Lviv, who he joined in September 2021. He featured twice for the side, while he also made the bench for a high-profile fixture with heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk.
Previously, he was with both the New York City FC and Toronto FC Academies.
"Osaze has done really well while on trial and it was the right move for us to reward him with a contract," says York United CEO/President & GM Angus McNab.
"He’s had a very strange year having played in Ukraine and then coming to an agreement with his club to terminate his deal just nine days before Russia invaded. This is a good opportunity for him and I think we’ll see him making a contribution pretty quickly given we’ll lose Lowell for a couple of games now because of his Canada Under-20 call-up."
