York United FC has mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Benjamín Mora after a nearly 6-month spell at the helm of the club, the club announced Sunday.

Mora, who joined the Nine Stripes out of Atlas FC in Liga MX at the start of June to replace Martin Nash, immediately earned praise for his ability to turn around his team's form and fortunes, which earned him a Coach of the Year nomination for 2024 by season's end.

Over his 22 total matches, Mora in particular helped to make York Lions Stadium a fortress, setting a club record for home wins (7) and points (24) over a 7-4-3 record. He also guided York United to a first-ever home playoff match, which he also won against Pacific FC.

"We are grateful to Benjamín for everything he brought to the club," offered club president Ricardo Pasquel. "Over the past five months, we achieved a lot and set new standards. Benjamín led by example and instilled a sense of belief in the group that will be harnessed moving forward. We wish him well for the future."

The Nine Stripes are now in the search for a new head coach, Pasquel confirmed.

"Inevitably, there is quite a lot of interest in the position and a large number of candidates to meet with," he said. "We are extremely excited by what's ahead and look forward to building on the solid foundations laid in 2024."
