Toronto FC announced Tuesday the club has acquired Canadian international full-back Cristian Gutierrez off waivers from the Vancouver Whitecaps, keeping the 26-year-old in Canada to add much-needed depth to Bob Bradley's backline.

Gutierrez, who spent the last three seasons at the Whitecaps, has 44 MLS appearances to his name since 2020, to go with his 27 matches for Chilean club Colo-Colo.

Internationally, Gutierrez has represented Chile at the Under-20 level, but filed his one-time switch with FIFA to attend a CanMNT camp in January of 2021. Since then, he has been on the bubble for John Herdman's roster, having yet to earn his first cap.
