THIS WEEK on OneSoccer: CanChamp returns, Whitecaps head to Miami & CPL Week 5
It's a busy week on the Canadian soccer calendar, with three major club competitions all underway. Every Canadian professional club has at least one match on the OneSoccer airwaves this week, as the Concacaf Champions Cup continues and the TELUS Canadian Championship gets started.
Here are the highlights of a jam-packed few days of action on OneSoccer.
Canadian Championship -- Preliminary Round
Atlético Ottawa vs. Scrosoppi FC (Tuesday, April 29, 7 p.m. ET)
Cavalry FC vs. Edmonton Scottish (Tuesday, April 29, 9 p.m. ET)
Toronto FC vs. CF Montréal (Wednesday, April 30, 7 p.m. ET)
The CanChamp gets kicked off this week with a pair of CPL teams in action against League1 Canada side, as well as a hotly-anticipated all-MLS 401 Derby clash.
Atlético Ottawa take on League1 Ontario champions Scrosoppi, while CPL champs Cavalry play a Battle of Alberta against tournament debutants Edmonton Scottish on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Toronto FC and CF Montréal go head-to-head at BMO Field in a do-or-die battle between two heated rivals.
Inter Miami vs. Vancouver Whitecaps (Leg 2)
Wednesday, April 30 -- 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT
After a stunning 2-0 win in last week's first leg at BC Place, the Vancouver Whitecaps look to silence Lionel Messi and Inter Miami once again in the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final.
It won't be easy down in Miami, but the Whitecaps have proven up to the challenge at every step so far in this tournament, and now they find themselves 90 minutes away from a first-ever final appearance. Can they preserve their aggregate lead, and keep Messi, Suarez, Busquets and co. off the scoresheet?
Cruz Azul vs. Tigres (Leg 2)
Thursday, May 1 -- 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT
The other Concacaf semi-final pits two Liga MX giants against one another, in this all-or-nothing second leg at Mexico City's Estadio Olimpico Universitario. The first leg ended 1-1 in Monterrey last week, which means Cruz Azul head home with a valuable away goal.
Cruz Azul are looking to win a seventh Concacaf Champions Cup to tie Club América for the most in tournament history, while Tigres have eyes on lifting the trophy for a second time.
Canadian Premier League - Week 5
York United vs. Cavalry FC (Friday, May 2, 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT)
Atlético Ottawa vs. Pacific FC (Saturday, May 3, 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT)
Halifax Wanderers vs. Forge FC (Saturday, May 3, 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT)*
Valour FC vs. Vancouver FC (Saturday, May 3, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT)
*Also live on TSN4
Matchweek 5 in the CPL will see some huge clashes, including a visit from Forge FC to the Wanderers Grounds, where Dan Nimick makes his return to Halifax after signing in Hamilton over the off-season. That game will be carried live on TSN across the country.
York United and the Cavs will get things started on Friday night, while high-flying Atlético Ottawa return home on Saturday to play Pacific FC. The triple-header finishes in Winnipeg, where Valour and Vancouver FC will both look for their first win of the season.
All of it will be live, here on OneSoccer.
