ROSTER DROP: Kadeisha Buchanan is BACK as CanWNT announce squad for April's FIFA Series Brazil

On Thursday, the Canadian women's national team announced its squad for FIFA Series Brazil -- a trio of friendly matches in Culabá, Brazil later this month.
As part of the new competition, designed to bring together nations from different confederations for international matches, Canada take on Zambia on April 11, South Korea on April 14, and group host Brazil on April 18. All three matches will be available live on OneSoccer.
The 24-player Canadian squad features five fairly significant changes from the SheBelieves Cup. The headliner is the return of Chelsea central defender Kadeisha Buchanan. The 30-year-old looks to make her first appearance for Canada since a 1-1 draw with Spain on October 24, 2024, after recovering from an ACL injury. As a result, this is also the first time she has been called up under Casey Stoney.

Buchanan sits sixth all-time in Canadian women's national team appearances, and with 154 has the most among active players. She is also a three-time Canadian Player of the Year. Given the way Vanessa Gilles and Jade Rose have been performing for both club and country in recent matches, Buchanan's return will create some intriguing competition at central defender.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo, full-back Jayde Rivière and striker Olivia Smith are all back in the team after recovering from more minor injuries that kept them out of last month's friendlies. After a surprise exclusion from the SheBelieves Cup roster, despite being fully fit, Ashley Lawrence has been recalled as well.
While they are certainly much healthier than in recent camps, Canada are still without a few players due to injury, including Gabrielle Carle, Jordyn Huitema, Adriana Leon, Lysianne Proulx and Shelina Zadorsky.
With another three matches in a condensed stretch, this camp should be another good opportunity for Stoney to once again access her side and try out different combinations against a competitve mix of opponents.
