REPORTS: CanMNT stars Richie Laryea, Sam Adekugbe set for MLS returns?
Could both of Canada's starting full-backs make surprise returns to Major League Soccer ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup?
Richie Laryea has been linked with a potential move back to Toronto FC on loan from Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League, with a deal expected to be announced shortly.
In the video above, OneSoccer insiders Andi Petrillo, Gareth Wheeler and Oliver Platt discuss the imminent transfer and what it means to Toronto, who have used a number of makeshift options in his position since his departure, to limited success.
Meanwhile, Sam Adekugbe – currently in Turkey at Hatayspor – has also been mentioned in a possible return to the Vancouver Whitecaps, as well as a potential move to Toronto FC.
Both Adekugbe and Laryea burst onto the scene during Canada's incredible World Cup Qualifying campaign, with Laryea emerging as Toronto's preferred option at right-back before making the move to Nottingham Forest, and Adekugbe swapping Norwegian outfit Valerenga for Turkish football in 2021.
As for the Whitecaps, the club recently acquired Austrian international Alessandro Schöpf using TAM and may not be in a salary cap position to bring on any additional players, though a loan move could open the door for more wiggle room.
In either case, the MLS transfer window closes on Thursday evening, so any potential deal(s) would need to be concluded soon.
