REPORT: CanMNT CB Moïse Bombito set to return to OGC Nice training after September window

CanMNT defender Moïse Bombito looks set to return to action with OGC Nice after the September international window, TSN's Matthew Scianitti reported on Friday.
After it was reported before the CanMNT's friendly vs. Romania that the 25-year-old Bombito would undergo another MRI on his tibia as he continues to recover from a stress fracture, Scianitti then said that the results of that scan came back 'very positive'.
Just told Moïse Bombito's MRI on his tibia came back "very positive." No target game for his return. Nice want to bring Bombito back slowly so he doesn't have a setback. But he will be available to train with Nice's 1st team after the international break #CanMNT @TSN_Sports

That's big news for both Nice and the CanMNT, as Bombito hasn't played at all since May, with his last match coming in Nice's 2024-2025 Ligue 1 finale vs. Stade Brestois.
First, he missed out on friendly and Gold Cup action for Canada this summer as he underwent wrist surgery, but right when it appeared he'd return to action for Nice as they began UEFA Champions League qualifiers in July, he was then ruled out with a stress fracture, which was said to be a lingering injury that originated in the 2024-2025 campaign.
Eager to let him recover fully after a gruelling first season in France, both Nice and Canada have been very prudent with Bombito, who only joined the club last summer following a strong Copa América performance for Canada.
Having played every minute for the CanMNT under Jesse Marsch until this run of injuries, he'll look to return to National Team action in October, where Canada will take on Australia in Montréal and Colombia in New Jersey as they continue to prepare for the World Cup.
Until then, though, he'll have some big games to play for Nice, who are looking to build off a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1, while also tackling Europa League action for a second straight season.
