RECAP + HIGHLIGHTS: Inter Toronto vs. FC Supra du Québec | October 07, 2026

Highlights

There are some matches you simply have to win, and the game between Inter Toronto and FC Supra du Québec was one of them — and it lived up to its billing.

Supra took down Toronto 2-1 on Wednesday morning at York Lions Stadium, as a brace from Golden Boot winner Loïc Kwemi gave the visitors all three points in front of a sold-out School Day Match crowd.

There were goals, tension, a few fairly physical challenges, moments of uncertainty and, ultimately, a winner: FC Supra.

With this victory, the Quebec club has given itself an exciting finish to the season, while Inter Toronto may have seen their playoff hopes disappear.

“Today, what made the difference was character. The guys gave everything, they worked for 120 minutes, they put their bodies on the line, they put their minds to it, they worked for one another. And that’s what made the difference in the game today,” Supra head coach Kyt Selaidopoulos said after the match.

“We have to be realistic, and our chances of making the playoffs are very slim,” Inter Toronto head coach Mauro Eustaquio admitted. “Once again, we were good for 45 minutes, but in this league, you have to be good for more than 100 minutes,” he added regretfully.

The young students from Toronto schools, who were in attendance for Inter Toronto’s first-ever “School Day,” were treated to quite a spectacle and did not have to wait long to get excited. The match started at a very high tempo, with plenty of action from the outset.

Gonzales’ shot, which posed no danger to Joakim Milli after barely a minute of play, set the tone for a match both teams had every reason to win.

Tomasz Skublak, the striker the league has come to know this year, did not take long to open the scoring, netting his eighth goal of the season.

Abou Sissoko’s uncertain intervention as he tried to deal with a free kick from Ollie Bassett greatly benefited Skublak, who, from the edge of the six-yard box, fired a powerful shot into the back of Milli’s net (1-0; 7th minute).

It was a difficult start for Supra, who also saw Keesan Ferdinand forced off early as he had only just returned from injury (10th minute).

That adversity, however, did not dent FC Supra’s confidence or determination. The Quebec club did not panic and instead quickly recovered, taking a clear grip on the game.

That superiority was reflected in the form of their star striker, Loïc Kwemi.

The league’s leading scorer further strengthened his hold on the scoring charts by adding two goals to his tally in the first half.

Playing on the right wing after being deployed there by Kyt Selaidopoulos, the striker first equalized with a powerful header from a Diyaeddine Abzi cross (1-1; 17th minute), before putting Supra ahead with a low, diagonal shot inside the box after carrying the ball across half the field and dribbling past the unfortunate Osvaldo Leon with little difficulty (1-2; 37th minute).

In between, Omar Elkalkouli hit the post with a long-range effort that was tipped onto the woodwork by Campos (30th minute).

The urgent need for points for both teams ensured the match remained wide open and was played at a sustained tempo. Supra wanted to put the game away, while Inter Toronto were looking for an equalizer.

Abou Sissoko came within inches of giving Supra a two-goal lead (63rd minute), while Safwane Mlah, twice set up by Kwemi, missed one-on-ones with Campos (72nd and 90+6 minutes), and Santos failed to hit the target late in the game with a shot that would have definitively killed off the suspense (90+4).

Despite being well supplied — often by the excellent deliveries of Ollie Bassett — Inter Toronto’s attackers were far too often lacking in composure with the final touch.

Skublak and Almagro both had major opportunities, but neither could find the target, with the ball flying over the bar and, along with it, their hopes of making the playoffs.

Inter Toronto appealed for a penalty in stoppage time, but their lack of finishing and lack of control in the game ultimately cost them another defeat. Quite possibly one defeat too many.

With three games remaining, Inter Toronto are six points behind fourth-place Vancouver FC and have a significantly inferior goal difference.

For Supra, however, the comeback is well and truly underway. The Quebec side are now just two points behind Vancouver FC... who they host on the next matchday!
