RECAP + HIGHLIGHTS: Forge FC vs. Pacific FC | July 18, 2025

Forge FC set a new record for the longest unbeaten streak in Canadian Premier League history on Friday night, making it 15 in a row without a loss with a 2-0 win over Pacific FC.

The Hammers started the match on the front foot, and Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson headed the ball off target with the first scoring attempt just three minutes in. A few minutes later it was captain Kyle Bekker -- who had scored in back-to-back games coming into Friday's contest -- heading the ball over the bar in the seventh minute as Forge continued to pile the pressure on early.

In the 14th minute, Nana Ampomah, who was lively once again on Forge's right flank, drifted toward the Pacific defence and cut onto his left foot before forcing the first stop out of Sean Melvin with a powerful strike. His shot moments later was less accurate, with a volleyed effort soaring high into the Hamilton sky.

It was Tristan Borges' turn to fire a couple of shots at Melvin in the 20th and 27th minutes, with the first one forcing another stop out of the Pacific goalkeeper and the second blocked by a defender. Borges had another opportunity in the 35th minute to test Melvin, but send a powerful half-volley wide of the mark.

Ampomah tried to give the hosts the lead with a cheeky scooped shot in the 40th minute, but there wasn't much power on it and Melvin was able to jump and claim the ball with what ended up being a routine catch.

The first half was dominated by the Hammers, outshooting the visitors 9-0, but only two of them were on target as they looked for the opening goal of the match.

Pacific started the second half stronger than the first, and Kadin Chung had the Tridents' first shot of the game in the 51st minute, firing an attempt from outside the box high over the bar. Yann Toualy, who scored a hat trick against Halifax last weekend to earn CPL Player of the Week honours, got himself into a great position in the box moments later but he too fired a first-touch shot attempt over Jassem Koleilat's goal.

At the other end of the pitch ten minutes later, Marko Jevremovic nearly set up Ampomah with a well-weighted cross to the back post, but a defender was there to nod it away just in time for a corner that didn't amount to anything.

Pacific's first shot on target in the match came in the 71st minute, when Ndom headed the ball on target from a corner kick, but Koleilat was there to make a comfortable catch.

Forge finally found their breakthrough in the 78th minute. Ampomah went down in the box and referee Sebastian Noshinravani pointed to the penalty spot. Dan Nimick stepped up and confidently buried it to give the Hammers the lead. Ampomah found the back of the net himself three minutes later, slotting the ball into the wide open net from a couple of yards out after the ball bounced around a few players in front of goal.

Pacific emptied their bench after that to try and get back into the game, but the Hammers were able to see out the remaining ten minutes without fault to claim a 2-0 win and stay undefeated on the season. They remain in second place as a result of Atlético Ottawa winning simultaneously at TD Place, while Pacific remain in sixth place, six points back of the playoff line with two more CPL games on the schedule this weekend.
