RECAP + HIGHLIGHTS: Cavalry FC vs. Forge FC | August 30, 2025

Cavalry FC reminded the CPL why they're the reigning champions on Saturday, as they routed Forge FC 4-1 at ATCO Field to bring the Hamilton club's 20-game unbeaten streak to an abrupt end.
It was an attack-heavy, aggressive performance from the Cavs, who strengthened their grip on third place with the extra three points as Forge now find themselves looking over their shoulder again.
The Cavs survived an early scare within the first five minutes, when Forge captain Kyle Bekker found his way into the box with a clear look at goal. He hesitated just a moment and moved sideways to try and set up a better shooting angle for David Choinière, which allowed Cavalry defender Daan Klomp to get in position and block the shot on the goal line.
Down at the other end just a few moments later, Ali Musse threatened the Forge goal with an attempted screamer that keeper Jassem Koleilat just touched over the bar. Soon after, Sergio Camargo hit the crossbar from inside the box as the Cavs nearly finished off a good quick passing play.
Cavalry would soon find the net, though. In the 14th minute, Camargo fed a through ball to Goteh Ntignee, who drove into the box and squared it for Tobias Warschewski. The German forward settled the ball and fired into the bottom left corner, putting his side ahead.
By the end of the first half, Forge were somewhat fortunate not to be down by more than one, as Cavalry peppered the penalty area and created 10 shots. That said, the visitors had a few good chances of their own; Brian Wright was unable to redirect one particularly threatening ball on target, as Forge remained off the scoresheet heading into the break.
Cavalry began the second half much like the first, and within five minutes they doubled their lead. Ntignee sprung a quick move forward and cut into the box, again squaring it for Warschewski. This time, the striker's attempt was stopped by Koleilat, but the saved shot landed right in front of Musse, who tapped it home to make it 2-0 — the goal being given despite Forge's protests that Musse was offside.
Warschewski drove a further nail into Forge's unbeaten run within another five minutes, this time doing much of the work himself. He took a graceful touch around Alex Achinioti-Jönsson in midfield then advanced forward at speed, watching a lane open up in the Forge backline. He hit a well-placed shot from well outside the box into the same bottom left corner as his first goal, and suddenly the Hammers found themselves down 3-0.
Bobby Smyrniotis turned quickly to his bench then, bringing Tristan Borges, Noah Jensen and Hoce Massunda into the game, and all three had a near-instant impact; a Borges cross and slight touch from Jensen in the box gave Nana Ampomah a good position from which he scored to pull one back for Forge.
However, Cavalry were completely unfazed; Sergio Camargo smashed home a fourth for the home side just seconds after they'd conceded, restoring the three-goal lead.
The match quietened down after that, as Forge turned their attention to preventing Cavalry from scoring a fifth or sixth to make it a truly ugly scoreline.
In the end, the Cavs sailed on to a surprisingly comfortable victory at home, as Forge's dream of an invincible season came to an end.
