Cavalry extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Pacific FC.

Ali Musse's early goal was the difference in the match. It was Cavalry's 11th straight match unbeaten against Pacific in all competitions. The Tridents have still never won a CPL regular season match at ATCO Field.

Sunday's match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but due to heavy rain in the Calgary area, it was postponed.

When the sides did finally step out onto the pitch at ATCO Field, it was an energetic end-to-end start to the match, with both sides looking to push the pace and create chances early.

Once again, however, it was the hosts who drew first blood in the 13th minute. A ball over the top from Sergio Camargo was taken down brilliantly by Musse, before he creatively flicked the ball past Pacific goalkeeper Max Anchor to give Cavalry an early 1-0 lead.

Cavalry kept control of the match after the goal, comfortably maintaining possession and taking away any threat from Pacific.

In the 33rd minute, Musse came close to adding another. This time, Gherasimencov found him with a great cross at the back post. The Cavalry winger, however, rushed his chance and hit it wide. The pair nearly linked up again in the 42nd minute. But Gherasimencov's low cross, after some good play down the left flank, was tipped by Anchor before Musse could get a touch.

In second half stoppage time, however, Pacific FC nearly caught Cavalry sleeping, as Kadin Chung fired their first shot attempt of the match, forcing a good save from Marco Carducci off the woodwork. That stop kept a 1-0 lead for Cavalry going into the half.

Pacific picked up where they left off, coming straight down the field and winning a corner through some direct play from Yann Toualy.

But that initial foray was quickly replaced by what had been the cadence of the game to that point, with Cavalry controlling the ball and looking to build on their lead.

The visitors injected some new options into their attack, with captain Josh Heard and Aidan Daniels added into the mix.

Cavalry really should have added a second in the 67th minute, when a great cross from Fraser Aird picked out Caniggia Elva in the box. Elva's downward header from close range bounced off the pitch and wide of the net.

The longer Cavalry went without adding to their lead, however, the more the Tridents looked emboldened that they could potentially get back into the match. In the 75th minute, Toualy forced another good save from Carducci.

They started to get more and more of the ball in the late stages, asking questions of the Cavalry backline. In the 85th minute, Aly Ndom won a free kick in a promising position just outside the Cavalry box. The Pacific fullback sent a thunderous strike straight into the wall, however. That was their last chance of significance in the match, as Cavalry held on for three points.

Pacific FC have now scored just once in their past six matches -- five of which have been losses.
