The Vancouver Whitecaps are the TELUS Canadian Championship winners for the fourth year in a row, after beating Vancouver FC 4-2 in Wednesday night's final at BC Place.

After the match, members of the team caught up with OneSoccer's Mackenzie Barwell pitchside.

Ali Ahmed, who scored twice in the final, was named the recipient of the George Gross Memorial Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player of the tournament.

Also taking home some hardware was fellow Whitecaps attacker Jayden Nelson, named the best young Canadian player of the tournament.

The most memorable goal of the night belonged to Whitecaps captain Ryan Gauld, though. Moments after stepping onto the pitch for the first time since March after battling a lingering injury, Gauld slotted a shot past Vancouver FC goalkeeper Callum Irving, before the Scotland international lifted the Voyageurs Cup once again.

Gauld was quick to remind viewers of the club's ambition to win MLS Cup as well, and potentially the Supporters Shield.

Jesper Sørensen, in his first year at the helm of the club, added to the legacy laid down by Vanni Sartini of the Whitecaps being the best team in Canada, winning his first trophy at the club and making history as the second team to win the Voyageurs Cup four years in a row, and the first since Canadian Premier League clubs have been involved, expanding the tournament.
