HIGHLIGHTS: HFX Wanderers FC vs. Atlético Ottawa | 2023 Canadian Championship (April 19, 2023)

Atlético Ottawa have advanced to the 2023 Canadian Championship quarter-finals after defeating HFX Wanderers FC 3-1 at York Lions Stadium on Wednesday, putting on a resounding response after going down 1-0 early in the first half.

Halifax struck first just before the 20-minute mark as Massimo Ferrin scored an excellent free-kick goal, but Malcolm Shaw and Diego Espejo both hit inch-perfect headers off equally-measured crosses within three minutes before half-time to give Atleti a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

A late counter-attack rounded off by Maxim Tissot put the final nail in Halifax's bed as Atlético Ottawa took a 3-1 lead, which they held through to the final whistle to the delight of their travelling (and delightfully vocal) supporters.
