Highlights

For the second time in four days, Canada's Women's National Team played Mexico in a friendly, this time at Toronto's BMO Field following a match at Montréal's Stade Saputo on the weekend.

Unlike the first game, however, which was a 2-0 Canada win, both teams ended up sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw, as Canada opened the scoring before Mexico responded with an equalizer.

Much like was the case in their first match in Montréal, though, both teams struggled to break open the match in the first half of this game, with chances being at a premium.

On the other side of the break, however, Canada was able to quickly find the net in the 48th minute. There, the ball fell to Shelina Zadorksy outside of the box on the second phase of a corner, and she did well to find fellow centre back Kadeisha Buchanan with a cross into the box, one that Buchanan would send into the net with a looping header to make it 1-0.

Their lead would only last 22 minutes, however, as Mexico tied up the game in the 70th. After Canada lost the ball high up the pitch, Lizbeth Ovalle picked up the ball in stride and went towards goal with purpose, before powering one home past Sabrina D'Angelo to tie the game at 1-1.

Soon after, Canada came close to potentially breaking the game open in the 77th minute, as Olivia Smith snuck behind Mexico's back line, but she had a penalty claim waived away despite being taken down right before her shot.

Other than that, however, both teams would be unable to further break open the game, leaving them to settle for a draw in the end.
