HIGHLIGHTS: CanWNT vs. Mexico in Montréal, QC (Jun. 1, 2024)
The Canadian Women's National Team opened the June window with a 2-0 win over Mexico in Montréal, taking the first of two match-ups with El Tri this camp.
The first half ended up being a quiet one for both teams, with the best chance coming from Diana Ordóñez off a Mexican corner that Vanessa Gilles was forced to clear off the goalline with a scorpion kick late in the half.
On the other side of the break, however, Canada came out strongly, making some key changes as they looked to break open the match.
That led to them opening the score in the 73rd minute. There, Adriana Leon continued her strong 2024 for Canada, as she slotted home with a left-footed finish after a great pass from Evelyne Viens, giving her 9 goals in 8 appearances for her country this year.
Then, Cloé Lacasse doubled Canada's lead on a breakaway after another perfect pass from Viens, securing the win for her team.
