HIGHLIGHTS+ANALYSIS: CanMNT advance to Nations League semi-finals after 3-0 win vs. Suriname
The CanMNT have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 Concacaf Nations League, as they defeated Suriname 3-0 (4-0 on aggregate) at BMO Field on Tuesday.
Jonathan David opened the scoring for the CanMNT in the 24th minute, as the ball fell to him inside of the box after a flicked header, and he made no mistake in slotting home his 31st Canada goal to put his team up 1-0 in this game and 2-0 on aggregate.
Soon after, Canada doubled their lead in this game in the 30th minute, as Jacob Shaffelburg did well to chase down a long ball from Moïse Bombito, catching Suriname's defence and goalkeeper by surprise with his effort, allowing him to slot the ball into an empty goal.
Then, in the second half, Shaffelburg completed his brace in the 67th minute, as Cyle Larin picked him out with a great ball towards the back post, and Shaffelburg made no mistake with his finish to make it 3-0.
From there, while Canada came close to making it 4-0 on a few occasions in the last 20 minutes of the game, the score would stay the same, allowing Canada to comfortably advance to the Nations League semi-finals.
