Former Whitecaps defender Marcus Godinho joins Dominick Zator at Korona Kielce
Polish club Korona Kielce announced Thursday the club has signed Canadian defender Marcus Godinho to a 6-month contract through to June 30, 2023 with an option for a 1-year extension.
Godinho joins Korona to play alongside fellow Canadian defender Dominick Zator, and becomes the club's fourth new signing of January transfer window. The 25-year-old last featured for the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he made 30 appearances across all competitions over the last two seasons, including 25 appearances in 2022.
He had previously suited up for FSV Zwickau, Berwick Rangers, Heart of Midl., Vaughan Azzurri and Toronto FC II, and has five international appearances for Canada under his belt, too.
While Godinho has predominantly been utilized as a right full-back, the versatile attack-minded footballer can be played in a number of positions. He'll wear the no. 28 shirt for the Polish outfit, who currently sit 17th out of 18 in the 2022-23 Polish Ekstraklasa League table, having failed to procure a win in their last 10 outings, conceding 26 times over 17 matches (joint-5th most this season).
