Form Guide: How CanWNT's squad is performing for club heading into Haiti friendlies

The Canadian women’s national team is back in action on home soil over the next week with a pair of friendlies against Haiti.

On Saturday, the two sides meet in Winnipeg at Princess Auto Stadium (1 p.m. CT / 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT), before a second match at Stade Saputo in Montréal on Tuesday, June 3 (7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT). Both games are live on OneSoccer.

Casey Stoney has called 23 players into camp for these friendlies, including a first-time call-up, and a player who hasn’t been called up in some time.

Here is a look at how Canada’s squad have been performing lately, coming into this camp:

Goalkeepers

Kailen Sheridan, San Diego Wave

Sheridan and San Diego Wave are off to a strong start in the NWSL, where they sit second in the table. She has played every minute of their 10 matches this season, making 22 saves and keeping a pair of clean sheets.

Sabrina D’Angelo, Aston Villa

The 32-year-old D’Angelo had a strong first season with Aston Villa in the WSL. She comes into camp in particularly excellent form as Villa won five straight matches to end the season, and finished a respectable sixth in the table.

Lysianne Proulx, Juventus

Proulx played sparingly this season for Juventus in Serie A, making just four appearances in the league for the Italian champions and once in the Champions League. Just one of those came in 2025, and she is undoubtedly the least in-form Canadian goalkeeper as a result.

Defenders

Shelina Zadorsky, West Ham United

Zadorsky was a mainstay with West Ham this campaign, appearing in 21 of 22 league matches. She has also been relied upon heavily by Stoney of late, especially with Kadeisha Buchanan still out injured.

Gabrielle Carle, Washington Spirit

Carle has played nearly every minute of this season for the Washington Spirit, and remains a key full-back for the national team, especially in this camp with the absences of Jayde Riviere and Ashley Lawrence.

Vanessa Gilles, Bayern Munich

It has been quite a few weeks for Vanessa Gilles, who won the league with Lyon, before announcing that she has signed with Bayern Munich. Gilles had an outstanding season with Lyon in France, scoring a stunning nine goals in all competitions from central defender.

Jade Rose, Harvard Crimson

This is a big summer for Rose, who after four campaigns with Harvard, is now looking for a professional opportunity. As a highly rated young central defender, it will be incredibly interesting to see where she lands, and these national team camps are further opportunities to impress potential clubs.

Bianca St-Georges, Utah Royals

St-Georges was a late injury call-up for Ashley Lawrence, but could be an important player this window given her versatility and the fact that so many of Canada’s full-backs are missing. She has appeared in seven matches for Utah this season, with a lot of those minutes coming on the wing, and scored once.

Marie Levasseur, Montpellier

The 28-year-old is looking to make her first appearance for the national team since 2022, after being called back into the group following a few years of absence. The left-back currently plays for Montpellier HSC in France, with whom she started all 22 matches this season, scoring twice.

Zara Chavoshi, Orlando Pride

The 22-year-old dual international defender receives her first call-up from the Canadian national team after a solid start to the NWSL season for the Orlando Pride. She has made two starts, and four appearances, in her first professional season.

Midfielders

Desiree Scott, Ottawa Rapid

Scott’s call-up is largely ceremonial, as she will be honoured in her final international match in her home city of Winnipeg on Saturday, likely to be her 188th cap for Canada. However, it is worth mentioning that she has been in excellent form in the NSL so far this season with Ottawa Rapid. Scott scored her first professional goal in the club’s first-ever match against AFC Toronto and she has since added an assist.

Jessie Fleming, Portland Thorns

Fleming has appeared in nine out of ten games for Portland this season, splitting time between a substitute and starting role. She scored her first NWSL goal against Racing Louisville on April 27.

Julia Grosso, Chicago Stars

Grosso has been a mainstay in the lineup for Chicago this season, and has received a lot of minutes since Stoney took over as well. She has appeared in all ten matches, scoring once.

Simi Awujo, Manchester United

Awujo’s first season in the WSL with United didn’t exactly go to plan with limited minutes due to injury. The 21-year-old did, however, have quite the performance for the club at the World Sevens tournament, which should give her a boost of confidence coming into this camp.

Marie-Yasmine Alidou, Portland Thorns

Since joining the Thorns from Benfica, Alidou has settled into the NWSL quite well, getting consistent minutes and scoring a goal and an assist through seven appearances.

Emma Regan, AFC Toronto

Regan has taken on a leadership role with AFC Toronto in their inaugural NSL season and an increasingly important role with the Canadian women’s national team. She scored an absolute worldie against the Montréal Roses and has played every minute for AFC Toronto so far this season.

Kayla Briggs, Michigan State Spartans

After a strong first national team camp with Canada, where she was arguably their brightest player in a 1-0 loss to Argentina in April, Briggs is back for this camp, and looking to impress once again. A direct and dangerous attacker, she seems like an excellent fit in Casey Stoney’s system.

Forwards

Adriana Leon, San Diego Wave

Leon is arguably Canada’s most in-form striker coming into this camp, having scored a brace this past weekend in a 5-2 victory over North Carolina Courage. She now has three goals this year in ten appearances for San Diego in the NWSL.

Janine Sonis, Racing Louisville

Sonis has appeared in every match for Racing Louisville this season, starting seven of those matches. She has largely played as a right winger this season, picking up an assist from that position.

Latifa Abdu, Montréal Roses FC

Replacing the injured Nichelle Prince in Canada’s squad, Abdu earned her spot in this squad by quickly establishing herself as one of the most dangerous strikers in the NSL with Montréal Roses. She has scored two world-class goals this season already, and leads the league in shots on target.

Jordyn Huitema, Seattle Reign

After missing time with injury, Huitema has been finding her form in recent weeks, consistently starting up top and opening her account for the season on April 26 for the Seattle Reign in NWSL.

Evelyne Viens, Roma

An injury limited Viens to just 16 matches this season for Roma, and after her Golden Boot-winning campaign in Italy last year, she was limited to just six in 2024-25. She came off the bench at half-time in the Coppa Italia final, a 4-0 loss to Juventus, but otherwise has not played much coming into this camp.

Olivia Smith, Liverpool

Smith is coming off an outstanding first season with Liverpool, where she was nominated for the WSL Player of the Year. She missed out on Canada’s last camp through injury, but has been in solid form since, scoring against Brighton in the league and Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Holly Ward, Vancouver Rise

Since the NSL’s inaugural match, Holly Ward has emerged as one of the best players in the league. The 21-year-old Vancouver Rise attacker won the penalty that led to the league’s first-ever goal, and has since contributed a pair of assists.
