Form Guide: CanMNT striker race heating up, Fleming stars in NWSL decision day

With the Canadian women’s national team returning to their respective clubs this weekend, some big domestic playoff games and plenty of action across Europe, it was a busy week for national team ballers across the globe.
In particular, Canadians had some big performances in NWSL’s decision day, the MLS Cup playoffs, and the historic first NSL playoff match over the weekend.
Here are the biggest stories for Canadian players this past week.
Promise David remains in scoring form as CanMNT striker race heats up
Last week, we looked at how the striker race is heating up a little bit for the Canadian men’s national team, with Daniel Jebbison and Theo Bair both putting in strong performances in recent weeks.
In Belgium, meanwhile, Promise David has continued to be just as prolific as always with Union Saint-Gilloise. On Wednesday, he scored in a 3-0 Belgian Cup victory against Tubize. He then followed that up by scoring his fifth league goal for USG in a 4-1 win over Zulte Waregem.
He now has seven on the season in all competitions, with a big matchup for USG on Tuesday coming up in the UEFA Champions League against Atlético Madrid.
Jessie Fleming stars in huge regular-season finale win for Portland
There was plenty of drama on the final day of the NWSL season and right at the centre of it was a massive performance from Jessie Fleming for the Portland Thorns.
With Portland taking on the Houston Dash on Sunday, Fleming scored a goal and added an assist in a 2-0 victory for the Thorns. That massive result moved them all the way up the table to third place. As a result, they will now host the San Diego Wave in the first round of the playoffs – kicking off on November 9.
An important Decision Day goal 🙌
