First-time call-ups Goodman, Jones headline CanMNT squad for November friendlies

For the final time in 2025, the Canadian men’s national team are in action later this month for friendlies against Ecuador and Venezuela.
They host world no. 23 Ecuador on Thursday, Nov. 13 at Toronto's BMO Field, before taking on no. 50 Venezuela on Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Both matches will be broadcast on OneSoccer and TSN.
Jesse Marsh’s 24-player squad features three first-time call-ups, including dual-national goalkeeper Owen Goodman and defender Alfie Jones. Junior Hoilett and Theo Bair also return to the squad.

On top of the 24 players selected, Tigres UANL attacking midfielder Marcelo Flores has been called into the squad as a training player. The 22-year-old Flores, born in Georgetown, Ont., has represented Mexico at the youth level with three caps at the senior level. However, he is still eligible to file a one-time switch of association because he did not make more than three appearances with El Tri before the age of 21. An Arsenal youth product, Flores has scored nine goals in 49 matches in all competitions with Tigres over the past two seasons.
Goodman, meanwhile, is a surprise addition after Marsch had previously poured cold water on a potential call-up for the 21-year-old, stating that he wasn’t eligible. However, Goodman was able to get his Canadian citizenship and, as a result, instantly adds intrigue to the Canadian men’s national team goalkeeping conversation. Having signed a professional contract with Crystal Palace as a 17-year-old in 2021, he won the EFL League Two Golden Glove and helped AFC Wimbledon to achieve promotion in 2024-25. This year, Goodman has made six appearances for Huddersfield Town in League One on loan.
The other new face in the Canadian men’s national team camp could be a significant one. Jones, a 28-year-old central defender, has almost 250 matches of professional experience in England between League One and the Championship. After five seasons with Hull City, he recently moved to Middlesbrough.
Four players called up for the October window are not with the squad this time around. Luc de Fougerolles (pubalgia) and Jacob Shaffelburg are being rested for this window with minor injuries, while Liam Millar (hamstring) and Luka Gavran are also out of the squad.
