DRAW RESULTS: CanMNT to play Switzerland, Qatar & UEFA play-off D winner | Powered by Moneris

Switzerland, Qatar and either Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Canadian men's national team now know how their 2026 World Cup journey will begin, after Friday's official draw determined that the Swiss and Qatari sides, as well as the winner of UEFA play-off A, will join co-hosts Canada in Group B.
The UEFA play-offs, to decide the final four European qualifiers, will take place in March, at which point Canada will learn the opponent for their first group stage match.
Canada's tournament will kick off in Toronto on June 12 against the UEFA play-off winner. They'll then head to Vancouver to play Qatar on June 18, and Switzerland on June 24.
From Pot 2, Canada drew the 17th-ranked Switzerland, who topped their UEFA qualifying group of Slovenia, Sweden and Kosovo. The Euro 2024 quarter-finalists have played Canada just once before, winning a 2002 friendly match 3-1.
Next, it was 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar joining Canada's group from Pot 3. Ranked 51st in the world, they're the reigning AFC Asian Cup champions. Canada played them in a friendly prior to the 2022 World Cup, and won 2-0.
Fellow host nation Mexico drew South Korea, South Africa and UEFA play-off D (Denmark, North Macedonia, Czechia or the Republic of Ireland) winner in Group B. The United States, meanwhile, got Australia, Paraguay and UEFA play-off C winner (Turkey, Romania, Slovakia or Kosovo) in Group D.
Other notable surprises from the draw include France drawing Senegal, and England getting Croatia to set up a rematch of the 2018 World Cup semifinal.
The full match schedule will be revealed on Saturday afternoon, but we do already know that Toronto will host two matches from Group L, and one from each of Groups E and I.
Vancouver, meanwhile, will play host to Australia VS UEFA play-off C winner on June 13, as well as two matches from Group G.
More to come.
