CanMNT name full-strength squad for 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup

On Thursday, Jesse Marsch named his 26-player squad for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, and it's clear Canada means business as they look to win the competition for the first time since 2000.

The squad features the majority of Canada’s star players, including Porto’s Stephen Eustáquio, Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, Inter Milan’s Tajon Buchanan, Lille’s Jonathan David, RCD Mallorca’s Cyle Larin and Olympique de Marseille duo Ismaël Koné and Derek Cornelius.

None of those seven players were part of Canada’s 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup squad, where they were eliminated on penalties by the United States in the quarter-finals.

The only notable absences are captain Alphonso Davies, who is still recovering from a long-term knee injury, and Moïse Bombito, out with a wrist injury. Zorhan Bassong is the only player named to Canada’s 23-player squad for the 2025 Canadian Shield Tournament who is not included in the 26-player Gold Cup roster. Johnston, Tom McGill, Jonathan Osorio and Kamal Miller make up the four changes from that side.

Unlike in past Gold Cups, this is the final roster and no additions can be made unless there is an injury, and that change can only be made up until 24 hours prior to a team’s first game. Teams can only dress 23 players (11 starters, 12 substitutes) for any individual match.

Canada kicks off the competition on June 17 against Honduras at BC Place in Vancouver, before playing Curaçao on June 21 and El Salvador on June 24, both at Shell Energy Stadium in Texas. The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage. All matches will be available live on OneSoccer.
