CanWNT squad revealed for Pride match vs. Costa Rica, game vs. USWNT

Canada NT

Canada Soccer has unveiled its 23-player roster for the upcoming FIFA international window, during which Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team (CANWNT) will face Costa Rica in a special Pride Celebration match presented by Volkswagen Canada on Friday 27 June (19:30 ET / 16:30 PT) at BMO Field in Toronto. The team will then face the United States in the Allstate Continental Clásico on Wednesday 2 July (19:30 ET / 16:30 PT) at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

The Pride Celebration match in Toronto will continue to spotlight Canada Soccer’s commitment to inclusion and support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community, with the CANWNT wearing a special kit featuring Pride-themed numbers. Fans can expect Pride-themed stadium branding and in-stadium activations, including giveaways from Canada Soccer and its partners.

Canada (8th in the FIFA rankings) holds a perfect record against 43rd-ranked Costa Rica, having won all 17 of their previous meetings. The two sides last met in April 2024 at the Concacaf W Gold Cup Quarterfinals in Los Angeles, where Canada earned a 1-0 victory thanks to solid defending and a goal from Evelyne Viens. Earlier in that same tournament, Canada also posted a commanding 3-0 win over Costa Rica in the group stage, securing top spot in their group.

Immediately following the Costa Rica fixture, the CANWNT will travel south to Audi Field in Washington, D.C., to face the U.S. Women’s National Team in the Allstate Continental Clásico on Wednesday 2 July 2025, just one day after Canada Day, marking the first encounter between the two sides under Head Coach Casey Stoney.

With 66 past encounters, the United States is Canada’s most historic opponent, with the rivalry dating back to 1986 - the same year that Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team program was established. The CANWNT will be looking to end a long-standing streak, as their last victory on American soil came on 11 November 2000.
