ANALYSIS + HIGHLIGHTS: USMNT claim Kings of Concacaf crown as CanMNT fall flat
Canada's Men's National Team were unable to snap their 23-year trophy drought on Sunday, as they fell 2-0 to the US in the 2022-2023 Concacaf Nations League final in Las Vegas
Their first final since 2000, Canada struggled to rise to the occasion against their neighbours, who did well to ride two first-half goals to their second straight Nations League title.
The US opened the scoring in the 12th minute, as Gio Reyna delivered an inch-perfect corner to Chris Richards, who made no mistake with a thumping header from close range.
Then, the US doubled their lead in the 34th minute, as Reyna found Folarian Balogun with a carving through ball, one that Balogun made no mistake in finishing for his first-ever goal with the US.
From there, the US did well to sit back and defend their lead the rest of the way, frustrating Canada en route to a relatively comfortable victory in the end, as Canada just couldn't find a way to create any clearcut opportunities on the night.
