The Canadian women's national team succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to hosts Brazil in Cuiaba to end their FIFA Series 2026 campaign as runners-up.

A hard-fought first half which ended 0-0 was finally decided early in the second half as Aline Gomes scored the only goal of the match in the 47th minute, though Brazil's lead was born in controversial fashion as the referee waved away what looked to be a fairly clear-cut foul. 

And, even with Brazil being reduced to 10 with a red card to Ary Borges in the 81st minute, Casey Stoney's side couldn't muster enough grade-A chances to equalize.
